MD, PhD Maciej Bręborowicz is a specialist in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal traumatology and a hand surgeon associated with the Department and Clinic of Traumatology, Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery at the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań, where he is a senior lecturer. He combines active surgical practice with research and teaching at one of Poland’s leading hand-surgery centres.
His daily work covers the full anatomical range of upper-limb conditions and injuries, from the shoulder and elbow through the wrist to the hand and fingers. In hand surgery, he performs tendon and nerve reconstruction and treats compression neuropathies and congenital upper-limb conditions. He performs shoulder and elbow arthroscopy using minimally invasive techniques that shorten recovery. For overuse conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow and de Quervain’s disease, he uses both surgery and modern conservative methods, including individually fitted thermoplastic braces.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań. He gained clinical experience at the Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital in Poznań, treating patients requiring complex reconstructions and treatment of acute upper-limb injuries.
His scientific work includes publications in peer-reviewed international journals on elbow surgery, shoulder pathology and wrist conditions, including International Orthopaedics and Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
His research activity extends beyond classical orthopaedics: he also publishes and lectures in tissue engineering, a field concerned with the biological restoration of tissues after injuries and musculoskeletal disease. This perspective directly informs how he plans reconstructive treatment for patients who need restoration of upper-limb function.
Member of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the Polish Society for Hand Surgery, the Polish Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society. He developed his surgical skills through international courses in hand surgery, wrist arthroscopy, and shoulder and elbow surgery.
He has been part of the Halluxmed team since 2026. He brings academic and surgical experience covering the full spectrum of upper-limb conditions, from precise hand reconstruction to arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder and elbow.
