Dr Damian Bartkiewicz is a specialist in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal traumatology. He treats orthopaedic patients and athletes in his daily practice, leads the medical staff of Lech Poznań Academy and is completing specialist training in sports medicine.
His main areas of practice are sports traumatology and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, ankle and shoulder, including ligament reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair, and reconstruction of soft tissues, the Achilles tendon and the rotator cuff.
His other main area is the treatment of overuse and post-traumatic shoulder and elbow conditions, including painful shoulder syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow. He also treats fractures and degenerative conditions and performs joint arthroplasty.
He graduated from the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań. He completed his specialist training in the Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery Department of the Regional Hospital in Poznań and a placement in upper-limb surgery at Rehasport Clinic Hospital in Poznań, treating both patients requiring elective procedures and those with urgent musculoskeletal injuries.
In conservative treatment, he uses ultrasound-guided targeted injections and orthobiological methods with platelet-rich plasma. Delivering medication precisely into the affected structure increases treatment effectiveness and can postpone surgery in some cases.
He completed the three-level UEFA Football Doctor Education Programme and supported the organisation and delivery of its national educational programme for sports physicians. He is a licensed physician of the Polish Football Association and a physician certified by the Polish Society of Sports Medicine, authorised to issue sports fitness certificates for athletes up to 23 years of age. He develops his surgical skills through national and international courses and congresses in arthroscopic surgery and sports traumatology.
